ECO ART

The works presented in this gallery are a selection of projects presented in urban areas, in the wilderness of the desert, in outdoor exhibitions, in galleries and in museums. The works project de Beer's engagement in environmental, ecological, political and social issues in a balanced way, beyond the conception of environmental issues in isolation. The works exhibit de Beer's attraction to the creation of environmental mirrors, reflecting art into reality. This is evident in his work, which includes: creating three-dimensional sculptures and installations in which he utilizes everyday waste materials; employing social communities, such as mentally challenged adults, school children or senior citizens in assembly and creation of sculptures and installations; taking an abandoned quarry and turning it into an awesome work site; changing an electric pole into an artistic creation; recycling used plastic bottles to produce colored garden beds placed in the center of the town; transforming military waste and coal ash into "hanging fields", giving them a new meaning and a "new cycle of life". Although de Beer does not define his art in terms of a specific genre or movement, his eco-art reflects contemporary conceptions of the emerging movement "beyond green".
